Description: In the cold winter months, we sometimes shorten the evening by staying close to home, and building a nice fire on the beach. We do this at Dockweiler, where there are cement fire pits, convenient parking, and the roar of the fire, the surf, and the jets taking off out of LAX.

Notes:
  • Bring Firewood!
  • The beach all closes down at 10PM, so we have to leave then.
  • Alcohol is technically illegal on the beach. If you bring wine, make sure to be discrete about it.
  • Parking is free on Vista del Mar, but possibly safer down in the pay lot.

How to get there: From Samuel's House:

Take Sunnyside Ave south to Maxella
Turn left on Maxella, and drive a quarter mile
Turn right on Alla, continue to the light
Turn left at the light, and immediately get in the right lane, which ducts you into a right hand turn lane onto Culver
Turn right onto Culver
Take Culver all the way into Playa del Rey
Turn left at Vista del Mar.
Continue until you get close to Imperial.
You can either park on the street here, or continue to Imperial where you can turn right into the pay parking area ($5).
See map below.

From Anywhere:

Take the 405 Freeway to the 105 Freeway (West).
Take the Imperial Highway exit off of the 105 (basically, you just go straight off the end)
Drive down Imperial until you meet Vista Del Mar.
You can either turn right here, and do street parking about a quarter of a mile up, or go straight into the pay parking area (for $5).
